The Uganda Christian University netball team, the UCU Angels, won their second game in a row in the 2025 Uganda Netball Super League, defeating UGISA 44-40 on Saturday, April 12, at HAMZ Stadium Nakivubo.
The match was interrupted by heavy rainfall, which caused the third quarter to be played three times due to wet playing conditions.
Despite the disruption, the Angels maintained composure and control throughout the game, leading 25–21 at halftime before finishing the match with a four-point advantage.
This was the Angels’ second fixture of the season, following their 52–35 win over Dynamite Netball Academy on April 5. The back-to-back victories mark a strong start to the season for the Mukono-based side.
On the same day, reigning champions Prisons were humiliated by National Insurance Corporation (NIC) Netball Club in a closely contested encounter that ended with a 13-goal margin in favour of NIC.
The day also saw the official launch of the Uganda Netball Super League. Dr. Bernard Ogwel, Secretary General of the National Council of Sports, presided over the event, as did Jocelyn Ucanda, the new president of Netball Uganda.
The UPDF Band added ceremonial flair to the event at the newly refurbished HAMZ Stadium.
