The UCU Canons face Falcons basketball club in the semi finals of the Power Invite basketball tournament at the YMCA grounds in Wandegeya on Saturday.
The Canons will look to secure their ticket to yet another final after wins against Takan Lokeris and the UPDF Tomahawks.
Morale is high in the squad as they will look to improve on their winning run which has seen them win the 3×3 Afro varsity basketball tournament as well.
Head coach Nicholas Atuhereza says the team is ready for the game on Saturday and the momentum is growing after their win in Nairobi the previous weekend.
“ We look forward to playing the falcons and getting to another final, it’s been a good fortnight for the team, we are hoping that the winning run continues”.
The Falcons come into the semis with a 1-1 record after winning their first game against rivals Betway Power then succumbing to a loss to the Namugongo Blazers.
Team captain Titus Lual expects a tough game but is confident that the team has enough to get past the unpredictable Falcons and make it to the finals.
“ The Falcons are a very formidable side, but we are confident in our abilities and looking forward to having fun and winning the game”, he says.
The first Betway Power Invite basketball tournament will conclude the following week with the winner walking away with 2 million shillings and the runner up taking 1.5 million shillings.
