UCU Canons 63 – 46 KIU Titans
The UCU Canons continued their resurgence in the 2025 National Basketball League, defeating the KIU Titans 63-46 on Monday, 21st April at YMCA Wandegeya.
Canon’s result not only marked their first away win of the season, but also their second consecutive victory, signalling growing rhythm and belief in a team that had struggled to find its feet early on.
After a quiet opening quarter, which ended 10-9 in KIU’s favour, Daniel Muganzi became UCU’s lifeline, scoring 5 of their 9 first-quarter points.
Coach Nicholas’ canons took control in the second, dominating with a 20-9 run, and maintained their lead with a strong fourth quarter finish (25-14) to close out the game.
Muganzi finished with a game-high 22 points, continuing his scoring form after dropping 15 against Sommet. Flore Dushime added 15 points and 4 rebounds, while Emmanuel Makuei was a force on the boards with 12 rebounds.
For the Titans, Daniel Odonkyero stood out with 21 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to stop a UCU side that showed far greater composure and depth.
This victory marked UCU’s third win of the season, their first on the road, and a clear indication that the team is beginning to find rhythm at both ends of the floor.
