UCU guild annual run graced by SFC commander

Uganda Christian University (UCU)’s 24th guild government has held the guild annual run. This run has aimed at raising tuition for students struggling to clear their tuition. The 8km run started at the UCU main pitch through bishop stage road to Nabutti. The athletes turned to Shiro church Bugujju and then back to the UCU main gate.

Brig Gen. Felix Busizoor the commander of Special Forces Command (SFC) graced this year’s guild annual run.  He (Busizoor) contributed UGx 5millions towards the cause of the annual guild run. he went ahead to express his joy towards UCU’s disciplinary count of the students.

“UCU has always been disciplined and I don’t think it has ever had any strike, I will always want you to invite me for more events because you are a much-disciplined university,” he said. He (Busizoor) also encouraged the students to always love each other and their country. 

“Love yourself, your friends, and your country,  always be with the knowledge to do everything strategically,” he continued.

Rev. Assoc. Prof. John Kitayimbwa the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs (DVCA),  was delighted about the good spirit of the aim of the guild run. He appreciated the love and the togetherness of the UCU community.

“For the last two years, students have been affected by the Covid 19. The parents have also been affected and this has raised tuition problems. This act is so awesome and it should always be embraced,” added Kitayimbwa. 

 Kitayimbwa bought four more bibs as a sign to raise tuition for the struggling students.

The guild president, H.E. Rachael Sserwadda Mirembe thanked the university administration for embracing the activity and for supporting it. She also thanked the good heart of the students that purchased the bibs. 

“I thank the UCU administration and the students participating in the annual guild run. This is a great symbol of love towards the tuition struggling students.”

The students were happy to be part of the annual run. They were thrilled by the guild’s cause to help the financially strained students.

Areeba Achsah third-year student pursuing a bachelor’s of Public Administration and Management (BPAM), thanked the organizers of the guild’s annual run. 

“I’m glad to be among the people who run this year towards contributing some money for my friends struggling to pay tuition,” added Achsah oint of the run

The guild annual run was won by Frank Okello pursuing a bachelor’s degree in child development and children’s ministry. He completed the race in under 15mins. Juma Kyoterekera the UCU netball coach became the first runner up and Rosenior Kalung a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business administration was the second runner up.
