The Uganda Christian University (UCU) Journalism class of 2023 is set to premiere a class movie project on March 1st this year.

” We are excited to announce that #ThePerfectLie, a film by the 2023 journalism class, will be premiering on the 1st of March in Nkoyoyo Hall at UCU.

The movie is about a young woman’s obsession with high social status that leads to her struggling to keep up with the fake life she has created on social media, which ultimately leads to her losing everything.

“Today, we see there is a lot of social media, and almost every young person is attached to some sort of social media, and there is some sort of pressure that has been created on social media for people to look on, so the film Perfect Lies is about how you can’t keep up with whatever fake life you are trying to create on social media,it will eventually catch up with you…”,said the film Director Emmanuel Illungole.

Illungole also noted that the inspiration behind the movie was trying to encourage young people to be themselves because, when they are themselves, they become their own best version.

The film got its first film festival selection earlier this month after being selected for the lift-off global network sessions.

The film is directed by Emmanuel Illungole, produced by Nassunje Denise Rebecca, Illungole, and the cinematography of Conrad Galdino.

    and Richard Ssekitoleko

It will premiere on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 6–8 p.m. in UCU’s Nkoyoyo Hall.

The movie director shared how he feels about the upcoming premiere: “We feel good; we are happy that the film got edited; it got finished, and now it’s reaching the stage of sharing it with the public”, he said.

The movie adds to a catalogue of the many that have premiered in the recent past, including my degree,my background, cookies and sweets, and my first year.
