    UCU student treasures Ninja dressing

We all saw social media posts where a Uganda Christian University (UCU) student dressed in unique attire was referred to as a ninja. Well, the ninja is Lwasa Peter, a first-year student pursing a Bachelor’s in law. He had a chit-chat with Eriah Lule for the Standard.

How old are you and what inspires you to dress like this?

I am 20 years old and am a fashionista who likes art with a feeling of always looking different from other people. I feel elevated if I put on a piece that’s eye-catching.

How do you come up with your attire?

It’s actually like a talent. I sit down and design my attire myself, then I take my materials to the different tailors around town to make the best of my art.

Do you own a fashion store?

Yes, I own an online fashion store called Blood Ford-Out Fit 7; it’s all over social media platforms.

Since you run on commercial grounds, who are some of your customers?

I have worked on weddings and dressed some upcoming musicians like Pryce T, plus my other friends and family.

How do you juggle books with business?

I actually find time to do both things in their own time. After my busy academic schedule, I create time for my passion.

Don’t you think you chose the wrong course?

No, a career is so different from a talent. I like fashion, but I want to have a career as a lawyer.

How have you found the reaction from the UCU community?

To be honest, they really don’t appreciate art. They will look at you even in class. Some lecturers will make you uncomfortable just because of the way you present yourself. Some people actually told me I was in the wrong place. I would have been at MuK, MUBS, or Kyambogo.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I think the law will allow me to practice my fashion on a large scale.

Don’t you think one will outweigh the other?

No, I want to be a different fashionista with a professional background. That’s why I am very focused on my books but not forsake my talent. I want to influence young people to pursue their education and desires.

How much do your clothes cost on average?

My attire is not very expensive. You can see the economy as well.

Let’s talk about the other Ninja Attire that spread across social media.

I call it a BF-7 suit. It’s one of my best attires and I treasure it a lot. Honestly, I am having fun.

How did you feel when you became a meme all over social media for that attire?

    Share with us your background.

I was born in 2002 in Entebbe Municipality and I am the last born of 4 children.

Do your parents support what you do?

Yes, 100%. Actually, my siblings supported my business before it started sustaining itself.

Have you won any accolades so far?

No, not yet, but I was nominated for UG Teens under the Fashion category in 2020. It was online due to Covid.
