The University Football League, under the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS), has announced that they will host an awards dinner.

The awards ceremony will be held on December 12 at the Imperial Royale Hotel.

The league intends to reward the most consistent performers over the last decade in different categories.

The best coach, best XI, midfielder, striker, and defender are some of the categories that are up for grabs, as the media, fans, and former players will be allowed to vote.

Uganda Christian University (UCU)’s sports administrator, Sam Lukaire, says that the 10-year awards are a good addition but has some concerns as well.

“The awards are a good addition, especially after 10 years, but I have concerns over the voting parameters because of their difficulties and, hence colluding with the validity of the winners,”  he says.

AUUS’ vice president Vicent Kisenyi has revealed that the association is proud to celebrate ten years with a lot of progress made in terms of league development.

“We started with six teams, and now we have twenty-two teams competing as well as more set to join the competition; a lot of hard work has been put in, and we are very proud,” he says.

Uganda Martyrs University emerged as the winners of the 2022 UFL after defeating St. Lawrence University 1-0 in the final.
