UCU Lady Cardinals 1-3 She Maroons
The UCU Lady Cardinals fell in a 3-1 loss to the She Maroons in the FUFA Women Super League on Saturday morning.
In the game played at the university’s main playing field, the Lady Cardinals took the lead early but failed to hold onto it.
Meble Kusasira’s brilliant header gave the hosts the lead in the 23rd minute. The Lady Cardinals held onto the narrow lead into the halftime break.
Two minutes into the second half, Justine Najjuko leveled matters to breathe life into the game once again.
In the 57th minute, Justine Najjuko’s strike separated the two sides, placing the visitors in the driving seat.
From that moment on, they took full control of the game and were dictating the pace as the hosts were pegged on the receiving end.
Six minutes later, Jackline Adong extended the visitors’ lead, thus putting the icing on the cake in a busy second half.
In the 70th minute, Shadia Nankya came close to pulling back one for the hosts, but her attempt was collected by the She Maroons custodian.
It has been a start-and-stop race for the Lady Cardinals, who have now suffered four losses in the 10 games played so far.
After the loss, the Lady Cardinals lie fifth on the log with 12 points, while the Maroons are third with 16 points.
Next on the fixture, the Lady Cardinals will be on the road to play She Makerere on Sunday, February 2, at the Tear Gas playground.
