    AFCON 2023: Result

    Cameroon 1-1 Guinea

With a man less, Guinea managed to pick up a huge point against Cameroon in a 1-1 stalemate in the ongoing 2023 AFCON tournament on Monday.

Cameroon suffered two huge blows after learning of Vincent Aboubaker’s injury and also missed the services of goalkeeper Andre Onana, who entered the camp late.

On the other hand, lanky forward Serhou Guirassay missed the encounter due to an injury suffered earlier.

Guinea had a chance to take the lead through defender Mouctar Diakhaby, but his glancing header went inches above the crossbar.

Guinea later took the lead in the 10th minute when Mohamed Bayo slotted the ball into an empty net after Cameroon gave away possession on the edge of the box.

Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa had a chance to level matters instantly, but his powerful header went wide of the frame.

While Guinea looked to be in full control of the game, their captain, Francois Kamano, was sent off due to a reckless challenge.

Six minutes into the second stanza, Frank Magri levelled matters after nodding home Georges Kevin Nkoudou’s well-curled effort.

Moments after the hour mark, Magri had a chance to extend Cameroon but found it had to keep on his feet after beating Guinea’s backline with pace and energy.

Karl Toko Ekambi had a chance to steal the victory for the Indomitable Lions in the dying minutes, but his powerful shot went straight into the hands of Guinea’s custodian, Ibrahim Kone.
