The director of student affairs, Bridget Mugume, has declared Timothy Ddumba, a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in information technology, as the 25th guild president of Uganda Christian University (UCU) after he garnered 53.35 percent of the recently concluded guild election.

He superseded his counterpart, Jorem Eduno, a student from the School of Law, who managed 46.65 percent of the cast votes.

“I don’t know what to say I’m just appreciative of the students for their trust in me,” said Ddumba.

He went ahead to promise that he would work hard to implement his manifesto in order to satisfy the students’ expectations.

Ddumba will succeed Racheal Mirembe Sserwadda, the 24th guild president.

“For the 14 years I have been at UCU, this is the first time I’m declaring results at 5 p.m.,” said Mugume.

She went ahead to comment on the University Internet Services (UIS) for sacrificing their time to see that the elections were a success.

“Let me take this opportunity to thank the UIS team for working tirelessly to ensure that e-voting is a success,” Mugume said.
