UCU Canons sealed a narrow 66–65 victory over Sommet on Friday night at Abja Parks Naalya to pick up their second win of the National Basketball League season.
Sommet started stronger on both ends, taking a 19–12 lead after the first quarter. UCU responded well in the second, scoring 21 points and limiting Sommet to 10 to lead 33–29 at halftime.
Captain Zachariah Ekirappa pushed the Canons ahead 50–46 by the end of the third quarter after scoring 15 points through three periods, while Flore Dushime added 10 points with two 3-pointers.
The closing minutes were tense as Sommet mounted pressure, but UCU held on to secure the one-point win.
Ekirappa finished with a game-high 24 points. Dushime scored 11. For Sommet, Joseph Chuma had 18 points, Karabana Diaw added 13, and Nkulu Kaseya contributed 10.
The Canons now shift focus to their next fixture as they look to build on the momentum gathered after losses to Namuwongo Blazers and UPDF Tomahawks earlier in the season.
