Cardinals beat IUEA in UFL match-day 5

By Ian Asabo

In a dominant performance where the defending champions were able to control the game with minimum effort, they extended their lead at the top of the table to three points.

Goals from David Mbalanga, Isaac Ofoywroth, and Enock Ssekandi were enough for the away side to take all three points.

The win takes the Mukono-based side to 13 points and they will need a point from their remaining game against Victoria University to qualify for the knockout stages.

UCU Head coach, Jimmy Kintu, was impressed with the victory and guaranteed that the ‘role’ players would get game time in the next game.

“I am happy with the performance of the team to get us to where we are right now. The other players who haven’t played as much will get game time in the next game,” he says.

Goal scorer Isaac Ofoywroth says that despite the victory, the team will still look to improve and get battered ahead of the knockout rounds.

“It is good to get a victory and in a dominant way, but we must look to improve in other areas in order to be ready for any challenge,” he says.

UCU are top of the table with 13 points while second placed Kumi sit second with 10 points with a game to go.
