Uganda Christian University’s basketball teams marked the start of the second round with wins; both the UCU Canons and UCU Lady Canons secured wins in their National Basketball League games at YMCA Wandegeya courts on Saturday, May 31.
The UCU Canons wrapped up their first round of the 2025 National Basketball League in style, grinding out a 59–54 victory over the JT Jaguars in a tense encounter played under the lights at YMCA Wandegeya on Wednesday, May 21.
Shillah Lamunu was instrumental in the game, recording a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds.
It was a close contest from the get-go as the Canons came out of the kiln, creating a one-point (18-17) lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the first round, the Panthers won the game 69-65 in yet another close-contested game. The Canons suffered their eighth loss of the campaign in 18 games played.
It was a really thrilling experience of a Friday night basketball game, as both were emphatic on the offense, keeping the fans on their feet all throughout the game.
UCU Canons will lock horns with Namuwongo Blazers tonight in the National Basketball League at Lugogo Indoor Arena in Kampala.
UCU Lady Canons secured a well-deserved 105-22 victory against Kampala University in the National Basketball League at YMCA Court, Wandegeya.
