Uganda Christian University’s basketball teams marked the start of the second round with wins; both the UCU Canons and UCU Lady Canons secured wins in their National Basketball League games at YMCA Wandegeya courts on Saturday, May 31.
The UCU Canons wrapped up their first round of the 2025 National Basketball League in style, grinding out a 59–54 victory over the JT Jaguars in a tense encounter played under the lights at YMCA Wandegeya on Wednesday, May 21.
UCU Lady Canons, reigning African champions, are fielding a strong roster that includes Aziida Nabayunga, Aber Bridget, Shakirah Nanvubya, and Tracy Namugosa.
The victory marked a strong comeback after their narrow 1-0 loss to St Noa Girls in the previous match.
As the 13th edition of the Eastern Africa University Games (EAUG) draws near, excitement is building across East Africa. Scheduled to take place at Maseno University, Kenya, from December 16 to 20, 2024, the Games will bring together over 30 universities from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan to compete in a wide range of sports disciplines.
