Uganda Christian University (UCU) Doves finished second at the 2026 National Club Championships after losing 3-0 to Sport-S Volleyball Club in the men’s final at the YES Centre in Nsambya.

The championship was held from Oct. 2-4, with UCU hosting the opening two days before the final day moved to Nsambya.

UCU entered the final hoping to end the tournament with the title after an impressive run to the championship game. However, Sport-S controlled the final and completed a straight-sets victory to take the men’s title.

The Doves lost the opening set 25-22 before Sport-S took further control in the second, winning 25-14. Sport-S went on to complete the sweep and leave UCU with silver.

UCU had booked its place in the final after overcoming Nemostars 3-1 in a tightly contested semifinal.

The Doves edged the opening set 27-25 before Nemostars responded with a 29-27 win in the second. UCU regained the advantage after another 27-25 battle in the third set and finished the contest with a 25-19 victory in the fourth.

The silver medal adds to UCU’s recent performances in club competitions. Before the National Club Championships, the Doves competed at the KAVC International Tournament, where they finished third.

Sport-S completed a double at the National Club Championships after winning both the men’s and women’s titles. The women’s team defeated KCB Nkumba 3-1 in the final, while the men completed their campaign with the straight-sets victory over UCU.

For the Doves, the second-place finish gives the side another podium result as they continue preparations for the 2026/27 National Volleyball League season.
