    Engineering edges Health Sciences

The Uganda Christian University (UCU) Inter-Faculty Games 2026 gained momentum as the Faculty of Engineering and Technology edged the School of Health Sciences in a 2-1 victory.

The game, characterised by emotions and tension, ended 2-1 in favour of the Engineering and Technology students, with Jovin Kamyuka and Emmanuel Duke scoring to cancel out the lead the Health Sciences side had secured through Moses Komakech’s early first-half goal.

With both sides eager to secure the three points and book a place in the knockout phase of the tournament, unsporting behaviour continued to surface. Alex Kisakye received the second straight red card of the competition for fouling the last man, following Jacob Kisamba from the School of Social Sciences, who received the first in the previous evening’s clash against the School of Theology.

Missed penalties have also become a daily occurrence in the tournament. Anyaar Mourwel missed a penalty that could have increased the goal difference for the Engineering and Technology students. This takes the tally of missed penalties in the tournament to four.

Questionable decisions by the centre referee also left fans, players, and the coaching staff of the Health Sciences side fuming after the referee blew the whistle for a foul that few understood, awarding a free kick which was converted into the second goal.

Many scoring opportunities went unutilised, as strikers from both sides looked blunt in front of goal. However, the goalkeepers at both ends delivered excellent performances, making several crucial saves from shots on target.

The games continue with the aim of producing two finalists to give fans and supporters a repeat of last edition’s final between the School of Law and the Faculty of Agriculture.
