Kawempe Muslim registered a 2-1 victory against UCU Lady Cardinals in the FUFA Women Super League in Mukono on Saturday morning.

It was a tight duel that kicked off with a high intensity as either side searched for an early lead.

Hadijah Nandago opened the scoring for the visitors in the 26th minute with a thrilling finishing converting Allen Nassazi’s set up.

Before the end of the first stanza, UCU Lady Cardinals were awarded a penalty that was converted by Catherine Nakiridde to restore parity.

Agnes Nabukenya regained the visitors’ lead in the 48th minute with yet a spectacular finish as the Lady Cardinals’ backline looked on.

Midway the second stanza, Nandago had a glorious chance to extend the visitors’ lead but she failed to guide the ball into the back of the net from close range.

The game witnessed a bad incident as Jolly Kobusigye was rushed to the hospital after a nasty collision with Nakiridde.

The victory opens an eight-point lead (34) for Kawempe ahead of second placed Kampala who have two games in hand.

The Lady Cardinals are only two points (14) ahead of the red zone putting the ladies in such a trying moment as the campaign hits the final bend.
