UCU Lady Canons 56–38 UPDF Lady Tomahawks
    By Michael Ainomugisha

The UCU Lady Canons closed out their first round of the 2025 National Basketball League with a solid 56–38 win over UPDF Lady Tomahawks at Abja Parks in Naalya on Saturday, 18 May 2025

The Mukono side wasted no time asserting dominance, outscoring UPDF 15–5 in the first quarter and building on that lead with a 25–15 second-quarter run. By the third quarter, UCU had established a 42–23 advantage and comfortably saw out the game with a 14-point cushion in the final period.

Forward Sarah Namale posted 10 points and 6 rebounds, while Martina Anyango added 10 rebounds and 8 points. UPDF’s effort was led by Dorah Nakijjoba and Patricia Cate Nakiru, who each scored 12 points.

The result marks the Lady Canons’ sixth win of the season, having suffered just three losses so far—to the JKL Lady Dolphins, the JT Lady Jaguars, and the KCCA Leopards.
