Maseno University – The Lady Cardinals from Uganda Christian University (UCU) suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat to Makerere University in a gripping football match during the ongoing East African University Games at Maseno University.

Despite entering the game with high spirits following a 6-0 victory against the University of Dodoma the previous day, UCU struggled to replicate their offensive prowess against Makerere’s solid defense.

The first half ended with Makerere taking an early lead, which they fiercely defended throughout the match. UCU fought hard to equalize, but their efforts were thwarted by Makerere’s tactical discipline and a resolute backline.

This marks UCU’s second loss in the competition, adding pressure as they aim to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures. Meanwhile, Makerere celebrates a crucial victory that boosts their chances in the tournament.

The East African University Games continue to showcase intense rivalries and exceptional talent from universities across the region, with more thrilling matches anticipated in the days to come.
