The race for the Guild President at Uganda Christian University(UCU)  is intensifying as two candidates, Samantha Mwesigye from the School of Law and Lynn Abassa from the faculty of Nursing and Public Health, head to the ballot today, Friday 22 November 2024. 

UCU Lady Canons, reigning African champions, are fielding a strong roster that includes Aziida Nabayunga, Aber Bridget, Shakirah Nanvubya, and Tracy Namugosa. 

The victory marked a strong comeback after their narrow 1-0 loss to St Noa Girls in the previous match.

As the 13th edition of the Eastern Africa University Games (EAUG) draws near, excitement is building across East Africa. The highly contested race, held on Friday, saw a remarkable turnout among education students, with Lewis securing 176 votes, equivalent to 39% of the total votes cast.

Speaking at a workshop held at Uganda Christian University (UCU), Paula Iragaba, a research scientist with the Cassava Breeding Program at the National Crop Resources Research Institute (NaCRRI), explained how this innovative approach is transforming agricultural research in Uganda. The workshop, which gathered postgraduate students and researchers from UCU and Makere University agricultural disciplines, was centered around improving on-farm testing techniques using the Tricot method that has shown significant promise in other African countries like Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Ghana.
