The North Kigezi Diocese Bishop, Right Reverend Benon Magezi has succumbed to Covid-19. He died yesterday, June 15. This comes a week after he had tested positive for Covid-19 and had since been admitted at Mbarara regional referral hospital.

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, was among the first to break news of the death of the cleric: “ The Most Rev. The deceased was married to Mrs. Gladys Magezi, with whom they have five children.

He was consecrated the fifth Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese on January 8, 2017, at Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyasano, Rukungiri District: He succeeded Rt. Rev Patrick Tugume-Tusingwire.
