UCU 51 – 35 Kajjansi

Uganda Christian University (UCU) Angels began their 2026 Uganda Netball Super League campaign on a winning note, defeating Kajjansi Progressive Netball Club 51β35 at Hamz Stadium on May 30.
The Angels, coached by Nelson Bogere, controlled proceedings from the opening whistle and carried a comfortable 31β17 lead into halftime before extending their advantage in the second half to secure a 16-goal victory.
The result marks a positive start for a UCU side seeking to build momentum after a lengthy period without competitive action.
UCU Angels captain Linda Muziigo acknowledged that while the team secured a convincing victory, there is still room for improvement as the season progresses.
“We had our league opener against Kajjansi Progressive, a team that had been promoted from the lower division, and we managed to score 51 goals while conceding 35. It was a good start, although we have spent quite a long time without playing competitive matches,” Muziigo said.
She noted that the team is still rebuilding chemistry and adjusting to changes within the squad following the departure of key shooter Isoto Alice to NIC Netball Club.
“There is a lot to build on. We have mistakes to correct and team bonding has to come back. We lost one of our shooters, but fortunately Bushiira returned and resumed her studies, which has helped strengthen the squad,” she added.
Despite the changes, Muziigo expressed confidence in the team’s progress and preparations for the upcoming fixtures.
“The progress so far is not bad, and we are making sure that we are ready for the coming games. The team is in good shape and we are progressing well. The coaches are doing their work, and the people who come in from outside to support our training sessions are also helping us improve.”
The Angels will return to action on June 6 when they face Posta Uganda Netball Club and Busia in a double-header at Hamz Stadium. Originally, the fixture schedule indicated that UCU would host the matches elsewhere, but the games have since been confirmed for Hamz Stadium.
Muziigo believes the team is prepared for the challenge ahead.
“We are continuing to prepare so that we can attain victory in both games next weekend. The team is ready,” she said.
