Yes, the wounds are still fresh and the memories will last as the Uganda Christian University (UCU) Cardinals still reckon the painful defeat to Nkumba University in the University Football League final.
UCU Cardinals failed to clinch the second UFL title as they fell to Nkumba University in a 3-1 loss at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Speaking to The Standard, UCU sports tutor Sam Lukaire revealed that they will shift attention to next season and see how to improve the team.
“We can do a lot to improve our team. If we want to return to the finals then we have to kick start preparations a little bit earlier,” he said.
“Generally the season was good though it would have been better if we had won the trophy. We had a decent run finishing the UFL season in the second position and I commend the boys,” he added.
“Though, the finale gave me mixed emotions. Not sure how best to describe them but I was disappointed by the mistakes that cost us those goals. Though we pick lessons and learn from our mistakes.”
UCU Cardinals are one time UFL champions after lifting the trophy in 2019.
