The UCU Doves are set to compete in the 3rd Zone V Volleyball Club Championship, which will take place in Kampala from February 26 to March 4, 2025.

The tournament, featuring top clubs from 12 African nations, will be hosted across two venues: Lugogo Indoor Arena and Old Kampala Sports Arena.

During a media briefing on February 17, 2025, at the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) headquarters, Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) President, Sadik Nasiwu, confirmed that preparations are in high gear to deliver a successful event.

“We have finalised the two venues, and so far, 20 clubs have confirmed participation, with entry closing on February 21 ahead of the technical committee meeting,” said Joseph Odong, chairperson of the local organising committee.

Meanwhile, the referees of the game are also prepared ahead of the competitions.

“For every regional event, there is always a legacy programme; this time we intend to involve our national referees in this competition as scorers and court managers, as officiation is limited to international referees.” Said Innocent Komakech, Referee Delegate.

     UCU Doves Eye Strong Performance

The UCU Doves will test their strength against some of the region’s best teams, bringing their competitive edge from the National Volleyball League onto the international stage.

“We are preparing to face top teams, and our game plan is not going to challenge. The addition of two rookies, Blair Owomugasho and Fredricko Mujinya is to put up a strong challenge,” said UCU Doves’ head coach, Juma Osunge.

“Ambition Zone V to expose the boys to thegames,s and because they have been performing well in the previous three seasons, it is their time to compete on the regional level.” He added.
