In today’s mouthwatering clash of the titans, the Uganda Christian University (UCU) Doves swept past a frail-looking Makerere University Business School (MUBS) team to win all three basketball sets of their semifinal encounter.

The Lady Doves established a staggering 11-point gap between them and the MUBS ladies, with a maximum of 25 points to 14 points for the former. The Nakawa-based side came back with a strong resolve in the second quarter. The Lady Doves nevertheless always had the cutting edge and finished the set with 26 points to 24.

In the last set of the game, the Lady Doves unapologetically made a very clear statement, demolishing their foes with a nine-point margin after scoring 25 points to 16. As the referee whistled his last and brought the game to a final halt, scores were in jubilant moods, and ecstasy was in the air.

Their eyes lit up with excitement as they cheered fervently, a testament to the lively sporting atmosphere. Nevertheless, they didn’t represent everyone. Frustration was etched upon the faces of the MUBS supporters, who looked on as if asking the question of what would have been. Their body language betrayed the disappointment of defeat.

In a textbook example of history being written by victors, Lady Doves coach Juma Osuge, who was in jubilant moods and attributed his team’s exceptional performance to the fine execution of the conceived game plan,

“It has gone according to the game plan. We served and defended well, and, in the process, we also gave the young players a chance to feel the competition since they were the ones taking over,” said Juma. “We are actually using this competition to test how we will be at next year’s East African Games,” continued Juma.

In the second semifinal clash, Kampala University completely outplayed and outmatched Nkumba University, demolishing them in all three sets. That’s 25–17, 25–23, and 25–16.

The UCU Lady Doves and KU are in the final of what is building up to be an absolute belter of a game. This anticipated clash is shaping into an unforgettable display of skill, stamina, and resilience. Only the best team can win the match.

“Now that we have reached the final, we want to play the UCU way in what we have been exhibiting in the league. Whatever team we are going to meet, we are rising up to the occasion,” said Juma. “Now that we are the hosts, we want to make our community very proud,” continued a confident-looking Juma.
