UCU team inspires learners at Amazima career exhibition

A delegation of students and staff from Uganda Christian University (UCU) has just completed an exhibition at the Amazima School in Jinja. The career exhibition was geared at inspiring the students and offering career guidance to them in line with the academic programs available in the university.

Several students expressed gratitude to the exhibitors for the support and guidance they shared. “I had been waiting for today’s exhibition,” Patrick Zironde, a Senior Six sciences student, said. “Before, I was confused about what I wanted to do on campus, but now, I think I have the answer.”

Kuluthum Nanyondo, a senior four student who is passionate about the media, was able to interact with university students from the School of Journalism, Media and Communication, an experience that she says cleared a number of misconceptions she had about a career in Journalism.

“At first, I was biased about Journalism, but the more I interacted with the students from the School of Journalism, the more I felt better about taking the course.”

Victor Enock Masiga, a finalist from the School of Law, said that the legal scholars used this opportunity to market the School of Law, educate the students and staff on the Law of succession, and highlight some of the innovations that the school has developed.

He also pointed out that exhibitions like this also benefit the exhibitors and the university as well because they give experience to the students and create continuity in the university for future exhibitions.

“Among us, we have people who are in year four, year three, and year two, so we who are in year four are able to ensure that this spirit does not die,” Masiga said. “I joined this initiative when I was in my first year; it would be selfish of me to center it within my classmates,” he added.
