The Uganda Christian University Angels emerged champions in the national rally held in
Masaka at Kaddugala Secondary School on 27th to 28th March 2026.

The National Rally is the year’s opening tournament organised by the Uganda Netball Federation
(UNF) before the start of the Netball League and over 65 teams in multiple categories, featured
including primary school U12 and U14, high school, local clubs, universities, league clubs both
men and women from across the country.

Only three university teams participated in this category, including Uganda Christian University
(UCU), Makerere School of Business (MUBS) and Makerere University (MUK).

Linda Muzigo, the captain UCU, thanked her teammates for the discipline and unity that they
showcased in the course of the tournament.

“Love for the game and togetherness were our secret weapons because if a team is divided, it’s
hard to produce good results,” she said.
Muzigo added that their desire to keep the UCU flag high and support from their coaches led
them to win this championship regardless of the opponent.

In the primary category, Archbishop Kiweewa Primary School won the U12 championship and
Winsa Primarily School won the U14 championship over Licowins Primary School. St Noa
Secondary School managed to defeat Buddo Secondary School in the high school category.

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) Club defeated Snippers Club, and Joseph Nkoni
beat Villa Maria in the local club’s category, both women and men, respectively.
National Insurance Club (NIC) won the women’s league club’s category by defeating Kampala
    Capital City Authority (KCCA)

WOB dominated the men’s league club’s category by beating Kampala University (KU).

The head coach of the UCU Netball team, Nelson James Bogere, appreciated the idea of the
national rallies since they have helped them prepare for the league.

“Our strategy was to treat each team with respect and remain composed, as undermining teams
often leads to failure,” he said. in most cases leads to failure,” he said.

“These games have helped us prepare more for the season since we are in a setback because of
our powerful shooter Alice Isoto leaving, and we are building Bashirah Nassazzi with these
games as a trial for her so we hope to put up a fight when the league resumes,” Bogere added.
