BUL Women edge UCU Lady Cardinals to extend poor start

    UCU 0-1 BUL

    By Victor Turinawe

FUFA Women Elite League table leaders BUL Women Football Club continued their strong run with a 1–0 win over UCU Lady Cardinals, condemning the hosts to another defeat in Mukono.

UCU, who compete in the Victoria Division, have now lost three straight matches without scoring. They opened the season with a 2–0 loss to Gold Star High School Ladies, followed by a 1–0 defeat to Jinja United Women Football Club, and now this narrow loss to BUL Women.

The result leaves UCU bottom of the eight-team table with no points and a goal difference of minus four. They sit behind Highway Ladies, who have one point.

BUL took the lead early in the first half through Francisca Nakato, and the goal proved decisive in a game of few clear chances.

Despite the defeat, forward Meble Kusasira was named Woman of the Match after a strong individual display.

UCU struggled across the pitch, with gaps in ball distribution, limited attacking threat, and lapses in defence. Head coach Colline Ahumuza skipped and declined the post-match press conference, and the BUL head coach, James Magala, also declined to comment.

UCU will now turn their focus to their next fixture away to Highway Ladies on March 28, 2026, at Mbale Municipal Stadium, where they will look to register their first points of the season.
