Defending champions Namuwongo Blazers moved within one victory of another National Basketball League Finals appearance after defeating Uganda Christian University’s Canons 92–62 in Game Two of their semi-final series on Sunday 26th July 2026 at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
After claiming Game One with 89–62, the Blazers now lead the best-of-five series 2–0 and need just one more victory to secure a return to the finals.
Namuwongo imposed themselves from the opening tip, racing to a 27–18 first-quarter lead behind an impressive offensive display led by Fataki Nyembo. Their dominance continued into the second quarter as they stretched the advantage to 50–29 by halftime before extending the margin to 69–44 heading into the final period.
The defending champions maintained their intensity throughout the fourth quarter, eventually sealing a convincing 30-point victory.
Nyembo was named the Uganda Basketball Players Association Man of the Match after recording 21 points and eight rebounds. James Okello and Peter Obleng contributed 11 points each, while Innocent Ochera added 10.
For the Canons, Jimmy Otim and Daniel Muganzi each scored 12 points, with Marvin Okurut contributing 11.
Coach Kiguyi Emmanuel and Samuel Lukaire’s side must now win Game Three to keep their season alive, while Namuwongo will be aiming to complete the series and book another appearance in the National Basketball League finals.
