School of Social Sciences, and School of Journalism, Media and Communication thrashed School of Theology 6-2 to record the first win of the Uganda Christian University Inter-Faculty Games 2026 in the football category.

The game, played at the UCU Mukono Campus main pitch where odds favoured the School of Social Sciences combined with the School of Journalism, Media and Communication, saw them capitalise on their youthful energy and ability to sink the Theologians.

Simon Arike, the captain of the School of Social Sciences, netted a hat-trick, taking his goal tally to four goals in two matches. Robinson Obwana, Titus Musinguzi and Diego Mugambwa, the only representative from the School of Journalism, Media and Communication, also registered their names on the scoresheet.

The School of Social Sciences and School of Journalism, Media and Communication finished the game with ten men after Jacob Kisamba was sent off after receiving a straight red card for committing a denial of a goal-scoring opportunity on a striker from the School of Theology in the penalty area.

The School of Theology converted the penalty kick in the 88th minute as they pulled back a second goal through Michael Ginsanze to compensate for the first penalty missed by Abraham Achia.

The two goalkeepers made massive saves, with David Mugoda, the School of Theology goalkeeper, saving eight shots on target, while Fostine Ochoka saved a penalty in the 85th minute for the School of Social Sciences.

Martin Ruyonga from the School of Social Sciences also penned down a good record of being the tournament’s top assist provider so far, with six assists and one goal.

After three games played in the football category, two draws and one win have been registered, with a total of 16 goals scored. The rest of the goalscorers have one goal each: Anyaar Mourwel and William Mugabi from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Anthlem Tayebwa and Martin Deng from the School of Business; and Jimmy Ladu and Alvin Oketch from the School of Law.

The 2026 Inter-Faculty Games, which commenced on Friday, 15th May 2026, will run for 15 days and feature different sporting disciplines, including football, netball, volleyball, basketball and other indoor games, with the finals scheduled for 30th May this year.
