Agira Birungi became the 26th Guild President of Uganda Christian University (UCU) after a closely contested election on November 15, 2023. She was sworn into office on November 21, where she committed to fulfilling a manifesto that she launched on 14th November. Looking back at the past year, did her government deliver what she had set out for it to do? We take a look.

Staff and students alike at Uganda Christian University (UCU) were shocked to learn of the death of Trevor James Byandala, a first year student of Procurement and Logistics Management (BPLM). According to the Guild Government’s X page, Byandala had been reported missing for about two weeks and was later reported dead on the 28th of January. Byandala was reported to have been missing from the university’s premises for more than two weeks, a concern that got his friends to run a flier announcing that he was missing.

The Uganda Christian University(UCU) 27th Guild Government has officially taken over from the 26th Guild Government in a handover ceremony that happened on 20th January, 2025 at the Principal’s hall. 

“When l was joining, l had bad energy from different people, claims that LDC is a difficult space, and that one should have it in their mind that you will either fail or pass. But upon my joining I had a positive mind that I’m going to pass,”
