The Uganda Christian University (UCU) Canons continued their strong run in the 14th East African University Games with a commanding 56-37 victory over the United States International University (USIU) in the men’s basketball quarterfinals. The match, held at Maseno University, showcased the Canons’ defensive prowess and strategic play.

Head coach Nicholas Natuhereza expressed satisfaction with the win but acknowledged the challenges ahead. “We have tough opponents remaining,” said Natuhereza. “This was a good result, but we must stay focused if we want to achieve our ultimate goal.”

The Canons’ performance was marked by disciplined defense, which limited USIU’s scoring opportunities, and a balanced offense that kept their opponents on the back foot.

The UCU Canons will now advance to the semifinals, where they will face stiffer competition as they aim to secure the basketball crown at this prestigious regional tournament.

The East African University Games have brought together top universities from across the region, with intense competition in multiple disciplines. As the games progress, UCU’s victory solidifies their reputation as one of the teams to watch in this year’s tournament.
