    UCU Canons vs. City Oilers

Tip-off: 21:00 EAT, Lugogo Indoor Stadium

The UCU Canons are set to face their toughest challenge yet as they go head-to-head with the reigning champions, the City Oilers, in the semi-finals of the 2024 FUBA National Basketball League.

After a hard-fought 2-1 series win over the KCCA Panthers in the quarterfinals, Coach Nicholas Natuhereza’s team is gearing up for a best-of-five semifinal series.

The Canons, known for their tenacity and strategic play, will need to be at their very best to overcome the Oilers, who have established themselves as the dominant force in Ugandan basketball, winning nine championships in a row.

Meanwhile, the Oilers cruised through their quarterfinal series, sweeping the Kampala Rockets with ease with a two-nil win.

The UCU Canons showcased determination against the KCCA Panthers, with their decider game of the series ending 82-52.

Players like Otim Jimmy, Sifuma Peter, and Kayiira Joel have been pivotal in their campaign, but they will need to elevate their performance even further against a team as formidable as the Oilers.

The game will tip off at 9 p.m. at Lugogo Indoor Stadium, where fans can expect a high-octane encounter.

As the first of five games in the semifinal series, this fixture will set the tone for what promises to be a semifinal contest.

Can the UCU Canons upset the defending champions, or will the City Oilers continue their march towards yet another title? All eyes will be on Lugogo this Friday night.
