The Uganda Christian University (UCU) basketball courts have been transformed into a hub of commerce as students kick off the Business Expo, showcasing their entrepreneurial spirit. Running from January 6 to 9, the event has drawn a diverse range of student-led enterprises, featuring fashion, technology, food, and handmade crafts, in a bid to nurture innovation and business acumen among young entrepreneurs.
Organised by the School of Business, the expo has provided a platform for young entrepreneurs to network, gain exposure and sell their products. The event has become a part of the university culture supplementing programs such as the campus bazaar that happens on a basis of every semester.
Gum David the speaker, school of business says, “The expo is meant to inspire students’ business ideas and bring them to life despite challenges such as lack of capital”
The event which aims at easing accessibility to students on campus with products and services they would normally get at Mukono town has reduced time and financial expenses for them, and also provides a marketplace for the young innovators and entrepreneurs.
Aber Bridget a university students says, “The initiative is a creative idea that has brought many students together and has also taught us much more about others like the business talent they have”.
Many students, both innovators and consumers have expressed their outmost appreciation towards the business community for fostering this initiative calling it a stepping stone towards financial independence and practical economic literacy.
