    Blazers defeat Canons

    UCU 58 – 70 Blazers

    By Michael Ainomugisha.

UCU Canons fell 70-58 to Namuwongo Blazers in a National Basketball League game played at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday, February 13.

Namuwongo set the tone early. They played with intent and looked sharp on both ends, eager to respond after their loss on opening night. UCU struggled to settle and paid the price in key moments. They were out-rebounded 47-45 and committed 21 turnovers, which disrupted their flow throughout the game.

The Blazers built a 34-26 halftime lead and used it well. UCU tried to fight back in the fourth quarter, but Namuwongo stayed composed. They controlled possession, slowed the pace when needed, and protected their advantage to secure the result.

Nyembo Fataki finished with 14 points to lead Namuwongo. Innocent Ochera added 10 in a balanced showing for the champions.

Marvin Jesse Okurut was the only Canon to reach double digits, but his effort was not enough to shift momentum as UCU fell short.
