As the new semester unfolds at Uganda Christian University (UCU), the Fitness Club is taking a fresh approach to student wellness by introducing a cycling program aimed at enhancing physical fitness and fostering social connections among students. 

I think the semester is going to be interesting, especially since it’s my last one here at UCU. I’m going to enjoy myself to the fullest by making sure I watch every game of soccer for the ladies’ team because they will be playing in the FUFA Elite League. I’ll get a chance to see how people play in the Elite League. Additionally, the University Football League is going to be on, and we’ll get a chance to watch our guys play in this year’s edition.”

In Acholi, a local dialect in Uganda, the name Lagen means “the trusted one.” And that is the name that a pastor in Uganda chose for his son 30 years ago. In three decades, there are examples to illustrate that, indeed, Joseph Lagen has earned people’s trust. 

In May 2022, the campaign was launched by Archbishop His Grace Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, who also is the chancellor for the University. By the summer of 2024, more than 100 students had benefited from the 10K campaign.
