SJMC and Social Sciences edged the School of Business 25-23 to win the UCU Inter-Faculty Netball title, while FEDAT dominated the School of Law 76-46 in the basketball final, sealing a memorable double finale to the university’s Inter-Faculty Games.
Combined School of Social Sciences and SJMC team defeated FEDT 2-0 to win the UCU Inter-Faculty Games 2026 title. Goals from Diego Mugambwa and tournament top scorer Simon Arike capped a disciplined performance built on tactical execution and resilient defending.
Coached by UCU Canons shooting guard Zachariah Ekirappa, the SJMC and Social Sciences side put up a determined performance to seal the podium finish in a highly contested encounter.
The win was pivotal on the well-coordinated backline of UCU Lady Cardinals, commanded by Prossy Basemera and Harriet Muwugumya, as well as the team’s ball carrier upfront, Cathy Nassimbwa, who was in her prime form so far this season, making the defence of Jinja United Women FC look shaky.
School of Social Sciences combined with School of Journalism, Media and Communication (SJMC) have reached the grand final of the football category at the 2026 Uganda Christian University (UCU) Inter-Faculty Games.
Three-time semi-finalists, FEDT, outshone last edition’s first runners-up, the School of Law. They were more composed from defence to attack, while Law was defensively solid but poor and inconsistent in midfield.
The victory means the Lady Cardinals now await the third-round draw to determine their next opponents, as well as when and where the match will be played.
School of Theology held last year’s finalists, the School of Law, to a goalless draw as the race for qualification to the knockout stage of the Uganda Christian University Inter-Faculty Games 2026 continues.
