Lady Canons secured a 61–50 victory over Pearl Queens in a National Basketball League fixture played at Lugogo Indoor Arena, while UCU Canons were awarded 20 points and a win after Kampala Rockets failed to turn up for their scheduled game

Uganda Christian University basketball teams managed a successful weekend, with back-to-back wins as UCU Canons bounced back from two consecutive defeats against KCCA Panthers and City Oilers with a strong second-half display to defeat Sommet 67–55 in a National Basketball League fixture played on 15 May 2026 at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Canons remained composed late in regulation and looked on course for victory before Fayed Bbaale stepped up for the Oilers. With seconds left on the clock, he calmly knocked down three free throws to tie the game and force overtime.

Point guard Flore Dushime led the charge with his season-high 26 points and eight rebounds. He scored 12 of UCU’s 24 fourth-quarter points, taking control when it mattered most. Marvin Okurut added 21 points and six rebounds to support the effort.

UCU made the brighter start. Martina Anyango set the tone early in the paint, combining with Sylvia Nantongo to give the Lady Canons a narrow 20–19 lead at the end of the first quarter.

“I thought that today I should take you out; that’s why we’re here,” Mushengyezi said as he recounted the victories registered by the students in both events. 

UCU made a bright start, taking the opening quarter 16–11 with controlled offense and strong defensive work. However, the Oilers responded in the second quarter, outscoring the Canons 18–12 to take a narrow halftime lead.
