Uganda Christian University (UCU) was held to a 0-0 draw by YMCA in their second match of the University Football League (UFL), played at YMCA’s Buwambo grounds. Both teams struggled to find the back of the net, with the game ending in a goalless stalemate.
Visitors, UCU had a sluggish start to the match, with few chances created in the first half. Midfielder Allan Opio was booked early, and his disallowed goal for offside in the first half added to the visitors’ frustration.
In the second half, UCU made a series of substitutions to boost their attacking play. Achidiri Joshua came in for Ogola Patrick, and Bananywa Najib replaced Maiso Solomon. These changes injected more energy into the team’s offence, but YMCA’s defence remained solid.
Later in the match, Isaac Apenyo was substituted for Nyanzi Haruna, pushing Allan Opio into a fullback role to create more pressure on YMCA’s backline.
Further substitutions saw Jordan Ariaka and Geoffrey Oyaka make way for Abel Obura and Isaac Kyeyune in midfield. However, despite UCU’s efforts and increased attacking play, they couldn’t find a breakthrough.
“We played well and pressed well especially in the second half but we couldn’t find the back of the net, a point away from home is not bad but we look forward to improving our delivery in the final third.” Said coach Jimmy Kintu
With the draw, UCU now shifts its focus to the next group C fixture, travelling to Kabale to face Kabale University in their upcoming match.
