She Geme 2-1 UCU Lady Cardinals

    By Michael Ainomugisha

UCU Lady Cardinals faced a setback in their campaign in the Finance Trust Women’s Elite League, falling 2-1 to She Geme in Fort Portal on November 24th.

This defeat, with just four games played in the season, widens the gap between UCU and the league table leaders, raising the stakes for their upcoming matches.

UCU started the game with high intensity, creating opportunities in the first half and finding the back of the net through their star striker Jovia Nakagolo.

Nakagolo’s clinical finish, was her sixth goal of the season, giving the visitors an early advantage and continued her impressive form in front of goal.

However, She Geme responded swiftly, equalising before halftime through Shivan Ashaba capitalising UCU’s Keepers errors to complete her brace in the second half, sealing a hard-fought victory for the hosts.

Despite the defeat, the Lady Cardinals showed glimpses of their potential, with Nakagolo and Mbwali standing out as the team’s talismen.

UCU will now shift focus to their next fixture, determined to bounce back and reignite their push for the league title.
