Some of my favorite moments are also firsts, like winning my first championship. One title especially dear to me was being named MVP at the Zone 5 Championship (covering Eastern, Central, and Southern Africa) at just 17—the youngest to ever win it. Also my first championship with the UCU Lady Canons, and it felt like fulfilling a promise I had made to Jason Mehl, who was then the Head of Sports at UCU.
Year Two students won the Uganda Christian University School of Law Sports Gala after a strong run across football and other track events during the two-day competition held on November 14 and 15 at the main campus in Mukono.
UCU delegation touched down in Brasília on the night of 12 November after a long flight from Entebbe. Both the men’s and women’s teams arrived safely and settled into the athletes’ village ahead of Thursday’s official opening. Their arrival followed weeks of preparation that started immediately after they qualified at the continental championships.

The Uganda Christian University (UCU) volleyball teams, the Lady Doves and the Doves, kicked off their campaigns in style at this year’s East African University Games held at Maseno University, Kenya. Both teams secured 3-0 wins after their opponents, Kyambogo University, failed to show up for the matches.
“We are fully prepared and eager to take on the best in the region. Our teams have
been working hard to ensure we bring our A-game to East Africa,” said Sam
Lukaire, Head of UCU Sports.
However, UCU’s captain, Catherine Nakiridde, brought the Lady Cardinals level before halftime with a stunning conversion from a direct free kick.
