President Abraham Elomaboni made the call during the General Assembly after the challenge of missing marks emerged as a major concern raised during the assembly held at Nkoyoyo Hall on the university campus.
Tanzania had initially been awarded hosting rights for the 14th edition following the conclusion of the 13th East Africa University Games in Maseno, Kenya. However, FEAUS said the country could not continue with preparations due to unavoidable circumstances, prompting the federation to reassign the event to Makerere University.
“Jonah was a good friend to many, humble, funny, happy and liked joking a lot. He was so passionate about basketball, a hard worker and a great teammate. He was always jolly, very competitive and hated losing,” Mesho said.
The two ladies teamed up to beat Ndejje’s ladies 21-14 and 21-10, concluding the draw as 2-1 winners. Sarah Mirembe, the UCU captain, says that “this win is a defining moment against a tough opponent in Ndejje University and I am convinced that the ladies will defeat Makerere University Business School (MUBS) tomorrow as we play in our final fixture,” said Mirembe.
In an ecstatic game, UCU Lady Doves won the first set 25-16, the second set 25-14, and the third set 25-11, making a shortcut of playing five sets by winning them in a row.

The defending champions UCU Lady Canons showcased their prowess once again, cruising to a commanding 73-44 win over Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in a highly anticipated Group A clash at the 20th Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) Games on December 20, 2025.
UCU Canons, with a margin of 19 points after scoring 74 against 44 by UMU, showcased another eye-catching performance this evening at UCU’s Main Court.
The team fell down in their third and fourth games where they clashed with Victoria University and Makerere University. The losses notwithstanding, the team witnessed some outstanding performances from Divine Mawanda and Allan Karuhanga who managed to secure tries at different games and intervals.
