UCU Canons will open their 2026 National Basketball League season on 8 February against Uganda Martyrs University Flames at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Second round of the National Volleyball League (NVL) opened with high energy on January 31 and February 1 at the Sport-S Grounds in Nsambya. Teams including KCCA, KAVC, Sport-S, and UCU Doves returned to action as they faced their first opponents of the round.

UCU Doves and Lady Doves are charging forward with renewed determination. Both teams finished the first round in a competitive fifth place in the 10-team league and are now aiming for a top-four finish and a play-off berth.

UCU has added three new faces to strengthen key areas of the team. Point guard Mariam Namukwaya joins from Miracle Eaglets and is expected to add depth and control to the backcourt.

UCU Canons will start the 2026 FUBA National Basketball League season without centre Joel Kayiira, who signed with ten-time champions City Oilers. He leaves UCU as one of the most consistent local big men of the past three seasons.
