UCU Lady Cardinals extend unbeaten run

Uganda Christian University Lady Cardinals secured back-to-back victories over Jinja United Women FC following today’s 2-0 win on match day 11 of the 2025/26 FUFA Women Elite League.

The two clubs, who play in the Victoria Division of the FUFA Women Elite League, met today for a second time in a period of four days, with UCU Lady Cardinals sweeping both wins home.

Prossy Basemera scored first from a direct free-kick at close range to the goalposts of Jinja United Women FC, before Mercy Amoding later added her name to the scoresheet.

The win was pivotal on the well-coordinated backline of UCU Lady Cardinals, commanded by Prossy Basemera and Harriet Muwugumya, as well as the team’s ball carrier upfront, Cathy Nassimbwa, who was in her prime form so far this season, making the defence of Jinja United Women FC look shaky.

After today’s loss, Jinja United Women FC will start preparing for their next fixture against table leaders Lira City Queens FC, scheduled for Saturday, 6 June 2026, at Bunya Secondary School playground. UCU Lady Cardinals will host BUL Women FC on Sunday, 31 May 2026, in the third round of the Uganda Cup women’s category, before later visiting them in a league encounter at the FUFA Technical Centre Njeru on Saturday, 6 June 2026.
