Uganda Christian University (UCU) delivered a spectacular performance at the East Africa University Games in Maseno, Kenya, solidifying its dominance across multiple disciplines and bringing home an impressive collection of gold medals.
In a tense final all-Uganda affair in Maseno University Kenya at the East Africa University Games, Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Cardinals clinched the silver medal after falling to Makerere University in a penalty shootout following a tense 0-0 draw in regulation time.
The UCU Lady Cardinals team secured an impressive 3-0 win over Maseno University, with Jovia Nakagolo netting two goals and Jane Nantongo adding a third. However, the UCU men’s football team faced heartbreak in the quarterfinals, drawing 0-0 against Kampala University (KU) in regulation time but losing 5-4 in a penalty shootout. The Lady Cardinals are set to battle it out with Makerere University.

Early goals from Cathy Nassimbwa in the 10th minute and Jovia Nakagolo eight minutes later secured the victory for the Lady Cardinals with a wonderful finish after a dribble passed the goalkeeper.
Uganda Christian University (UCU) Cardinals are set to face Kabale University in the University Football League (UFL) on 29th October at the UCU Grounds.

Visitors, UCU had a sluggish start to the match, with few chances created in the first half. Midfielder Allan Opio was booked early, and his disallowed goal for offside in the first half added to the visitors’ frustration.
UCU took the lead in the 30th minute when Harry Abiti curled a brilliant free-kick into the back of the net, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
